OUR CURRENT KH PRAYER EMPHASIS is
to "stand in the gap" for ALL who are serving our country and their families. This includes those in ALL branches of law enforcement as well as the military. This is especially close to my heart as I have close family on the "front lines" of both these prayer needs.

Movies
Just a few of my favorites...
Television
Some of my current favorites are Monk, Psych, Leverage, Grey's Anatomy, The Closer, Without a Trace, most all of the Hallmark movies, and yes, admit to catching Boston Legal sometimes....mosty because I am a die-hard William Shanter fan!
I also like some of the "oldies" which only show up on cable these days like...Coach, Reba, Andy Griffith and WKRP to name a few.
I am also still hoping one of the cable channels will bring back re-runs of A & E's Remember WENN -- but I'm thinking I might have to break down and buy the series!
Books
I also love to read, always have. I keep my friends at the library busy tracking down books for me! This was a blessing I can't begin to measure when I was homebound all those months last year (see: About Me for the details).
MY favorite type of reading material is Christian Fiction; favorite authors are too numerous to list...Karen Kingsbury,Terri Blackstock and Angela Hunt (always a Heavenly Daze fan!) to name a few.
There's just so much out there these days to choose from...some good, some not so good. It's like a treasure hunt, looking for the "good stuff"
We are are blessed with a library staff who don't mind going the extra mile when it comes to helping & children and grown-ups alike develop a love for reading. We were honored to be named "Family of the Year" last year by our local branch because we took advantage of the many resources they offer!!
Heroes:
Always first, last and always, My Heavenly Father.
Next my *very special* Dad, Clifford Lee Karns.
If you have a few minutes check out his Memorial Page on our prayer ministry website: karinghearts.com
Though still a work in progress, working on my Dad's page helped me through those first dark weeks as I began learning to live in a world without him.
And though my Dad is no longer physically with us, he still lives in my heart, in my memories, andI can see his hopes and dreams for me realized every time I look into my children's & grandchildren's eyes...have found this truth...,"when someone we love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure..." I am so glad I listened & believed when my Dad spoke to me about "...the voice of truth..." (see video below)during my "growing up years"...this is truly my Dad's legacy...
Hello, thanks so much for taking time from your busy schedule to visit my little corner of CHRISTIAN.COM.
I pray while you're here you will shut the world out for this little while, slip on your spiritual "cozy clothes" and spend a little time with the Lord, asking Him to remind you of His many blessings in your life...and His countless promises to "...give you hope and a future..."that is my prayer for this page...
Please don't hesitate to email me with your prayer requests (of course I will keep confidential if you wish) you would like forwarded to our Karing Hearts Prayer Family, including anything you think would be an encouragement to others, even your favorite recipes, crafts, holiday traditions,etc....just little bits of your life which would help us become better acquainted!
Okay, guess I should start at the beginning. Originally from Pennsylvania,I met my future husband while we were attending school in Kansas City, Missouri For true, it was love at first sight! After a very short courtship we were married, moved to my new husband's hometown (which was of all places, on the very flat plains of Texas!
Fast forward a few years and here we are in 2009. Though always a "yankee" at heart, I'm still wondering how I came be a Texan, 'least by marriage! I must admit though, as much as I miss the hills and trees of my youth, wouldn't trade the precious family the Lord has blessed me with for all the hills and trees in the world!
These days I am what most call a "stay at home mom"...in my heart of hearts, with the Lord's help, I am trying to be a woman of faith who loves and cherishes her family, which includes a husband (of +36 yrs. as of last Christmas Eve -- where does the time go?!!),three children, five grandchildren, and two dogs. Toby is half lab. and half dauschaund -- can you picture that!! He is a sweetheart w/ the body of a lab and the short legs of a wiener dog!) The newest member of our family is Pepper Jack. He is a litte dog we found in the woods a few months back, near death. He has gone from a little black puppy weighing under four pounds, unable to even stand, to a long-legged bundle of energy weighing nearly 37 lbs.!! Lastly a very spoiled cat named Jack who lets us live in his house!
I've spent the past two years recovering from a broken ankle (which required extensive surgery)...drs said it was a "miracle"I've retained mobility, given the severity of the break (actually a spiral break)....course I am giving God ALL the credit for taking care of me when I wasn't taking care of myself! (fall happened while I was "trying"to re-learn roller skating with my children! Needless to say, I no longer take for granted the simple act of walking!!
You may be wondering where Karing Hearts Prayer Ministry figures into this picture. Long story short, after several years as Prayer Min. Director at my home church the Lord led (well, to be honest, pushed kicking and screaming!) my husband & I to step out in faith and begin Karing Hearts Prayer Ministry (KARINGHEARTS.COM).
Over 10 years old, Karing Hearts is a ministry of intercession and encouragement with no denominational boundaries...it has been a humbling experience for my husband I to "stand in the gap" for those who can't stand on their own...
a special burden for those on the "front lines" of ministry, especially missionaries. It's been not only a privilege to intercede for others, but a joy to send a note of encouragement (a "prayergram" filled with encouraging scriptures)to any/all the Lord lays them on my heart. As always, Karing Hearts welcomes all prayer requests and victory reports.

"To Love the Lord Our God is the Heartbeat of Our Mission..."
With the Lord's help, my priority these days is doing my best to love, nurture and "stand in the gap" for family, friends as well as our ever growing Karing Hearts Prayer Ministry Family...those who live close and especially those who live across the too many miles.
I have always enjoyed corresponding,
not only on the internet, but the old-fashioned way; once someone's name is in my corresp./prayer journals they are there for life!
I receive a blessing from remembering family/friends, prayer partners (really anyone the Lord lays on my heart) with cards, notes of encouragement, etc., not only on their special days (such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and also when they least expect it!
I have always enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening; though I wasn't blessed with my Gramma Ivy's green thumb, I continue to try every year with my little patch of veggies! Of everything I'tried over the years have had the most luck with cherry tomatoes...go figure!!
I also enjoy bicycling,
but until my ankle is stronger, I won't be doing much of that for a while.
It was disappointing, because the summer before I broke my ankle my husband surpised me on my birthday with a bicycle for each of us...we had good intentions of spending time together and getting much needed exercise in the bargain...oh well, maybe next summer!!
As for hobbies, my ongoing, ever-growing collection of angels would fall into that catagory.
I'm not exactly sure how it started...but my "family" of angels has grown so much they neded a china cabinet of their own! I have all sizes AND shapes...each one is a gift from a friend or loved one and has a special memory attached.
Those of similar values and interests, ...especially if they have a sense of humor and don't take themselves too seriously...to be honest, I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it!

Hello friends - We haven't been in touch for awhile. We've got some great news - a couple weeks ago we received "Best Classic Rock" group of the year at the KCCM Christian Music Awards. It was a blessing and honor. We're going to help a ministry this weekend that helps homeless people and brings them into the Word. Have a blessed week, LWPB
